Tesla Inc. is reportedly considering the acquisition of Wiferion, a German firm specializing in wireless charging systems for various industrial electric vehicles (EVs). This development comes on the heels of Tesla hinting at a wireless home charging system for its EVs during a recent company presentation.

According to German news outlet ntv, the industrial portal "Gründerszene" lists Tesla as a prospective buyer of Wiferion shares. The commercial register entry displays the name 'Tesla International BV', which, based on the company records reviewed by Drive Tesla, is a subsidiary of the automaker registered in the Netherlands.

"The shareholders intend to sell their shares in the company to Tesla International BV by means of a purchase agreement," the register states.

Wiferion specializes in delivering wireless charging solutions for industrial applications. The company's portfolio includes systems for mobile robots, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and other battery-powered devices, implying the potential for expansion into consumer EVs.

Neither Tesla nor Wiferion has officially commented on the potential deal.

Tesla's interest in Wiferion suggests the automaker's ongoing efforts to develop a wireless charging solution for their EVs. During a March Investor Day presentation, Tesla fleetingly showcased a wireless induction charger used to power a Model S in a home garage. This prototype demonstrated impressive charging speeds surpassing those of a Mobile Connector and rivaling the Wall Connector's capacity.

Project 'Garfield,' as it is known internally, has been under development for over a year. However, Tesla has yet to make an official announcement or reference to a wireless charging system.
