Tesla Announces New Pricing and More Inclusive Paint Options for Model S and Model X

Posted on Aug 31, 2023

Tesla is once again shaking up the electric vehicle market, this time with a dual announcement that impacts its flagship vehicles, the Model S and Model X, in North America.

New Pricing Details

  • Model S

    • Model S Long Range: $74,990

    • Model S Plaid: $89,990

    • Lease monthly payments starting at $999 (36 months)

  • Model X

    • Model X Long Range: $79,990

    • Model X Plaid: $89,990

    • Lease monthly payments starting at $1,099 (36 months)

In addition to lowering the base prices, Tesla is now including all paint options in the base price for these models. This means customers will no longer have to pay extra for colors like Solid Black, Midnight Silver Metallic, Deep Blue Metallic, and Ultra Red.

Why This Matters

  1. More Accessible: The newly announced prices make these high-performance, luxury electric vehicles more financially accessible, potentially broadening Tesla's customer base.

  2. Transparency: Including the prices for paint options in the base price makes for a more transparent and straightforward purchasing experience.

  3. Competitive Leasing: Starting lease payments at $999 for the Model S and $1,099 for the Model X offer an alternative for those looking to experience Tesla's cutting-edge technology without the full upfront financial commitment.

Conclusion

Tesla continues its mission to redefine the electric vehicle market by making significant changes to its pricing and option structure. Alongside the recently reduced price for the Full Self-Driving package, the automaker appears laser-focused on delivering increased value to both existing and potential customers. These updates could be a game-changer in terms of Tesla's market positioning and its ability to compete in an increasingly crowded electric vehicle landscape.
