SK Signet, one of the world's largest EV fast charger manufacturers with over 20,000 units deployed globally, has announced that it will add Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector to its entire range of chargers.
The company joins the ranks of Ford, General Motors, and Rivian, all of which have recently announced their decisions to adopt the NACS charging connector in their new EV models, starting from 2025.
Interestingly, SK Signet has indicated that it "expects to release a compliant product in 2023", meaning that the first NACS-compatible charger could be just months away. ChargePoint, another key player in the charging industry, has similarly hinted at a "soon" launch for its NACS charger.
The swift embrace of NACS by charger manufacturers suggests a keen race to leverage the marketing appeal and business opportunities of aligning with Tesla's growing charging standard. It's likely that charger manufacturers are working relentlessly to integrate NACS into their products, possibly using NACS kits provided by Tesla to build their first prototypes.
