Polestar has unveiled the updated 2024 Polestar 2 for the US market, showcasing significant enhancements such as subtle design refinements, increased range, improved performance, new motors, and additional standard equipment. The updated Polestar 2 models come with a slight increase in price, reflecting the extensive upgrades.
The 2024 Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor now starts at $51,300, and the Long Range Dual Motor variant begins at $56,700, both inclusive of a $1,400 destination fee. While the prices reflect an increase of $1,500 for the RWD version and $3,400 for the AWD version compared to their predecessors, the new features justify the price hike.
Following the Volvo XC40 and C40 Recharge, the 2024 Polestar 2 models feature next-generation electric motors and inverters purported to boost both efficiency and performance. The single-motor variant, now a rear-wheel drive, is powered by a new permanent magnet motor and a silicon carbide inverter, producing 295 horsepower and a maximum torque of 361 pound-feet, a significant increase over the previous model.
Furthermore, the rear-wheel-drive Polestar 2 comes with a larger 82-kWh battery pack enabling an EPA-estimated range of 320 miles, a notable 50-mile increase from its predecessor. The 2024 Polestar 2 Single Motor also boasts improved acceleration, covering the 0-60 mph sprint in 5.9 seconds, 1.1 seconds quicker than before.
